Flight: While not exactly a weapon, Gigan’s ability to fly is an incredibly important tool. When in flight mode, his outermost wings fold down laterall, whilst his innermost pulls back to act as a rudder. Jets from his calves (and, in concept art, the end of his tail) propell him through the air at speeds of Mach 3. In addition to this, Gigan is also greatly skilled in the air, being able to perform complex manuevers with the utmost grace. It also allows him to get the drop on grounded opponents, quite literally, as he falls from the sky behind them.

Gigarium Cluster: Fired from Gigan’s visor, the Gigarium Cluster is one of the most unqiue beams in the franchise. Initially, it emerges as a large block of energy, travelling for but a second before breaking apart into dozens of smaller strands of energy to strike over a much wider area. Gigan is particularly fond of starting fights by sneaking up from behind firing this beam from the sky.

Bloody Triggers: One of the first things that stick out with Gigans of all eras are the massive scythe blades jutting from his arms. These blades, dubbed the Bloody Triggers, measure 45 meters in length, making for a terrifying appearance. However, what was a relatively straight forward weapon in previous incarnations gets significantly more complicated with the addition of the Hooking Anchors. On the sides of each Bloody Trigger sits a pair of canisters, built to contain kaiju-sized grappling hooks. At the drop of a hat, these wires shoot out from their holders, extending hundreds of meters before automatically detecting and wrapping around their target. Once the Hooking Anchors have ensnared their target, Gigan will slowly wrap the wires around his blades, reeling in his opponent with a sadistic glee.

Bladed Cutter: Once fully caught in Gigan’s cruel grasp, his foe will find themselves being dragged toward what may be Gigan’s most iconic feature: A gigantic buzzsaw running down the entirety of his torso. This is also what may be Gigan’s most self-explanatory feature. It’s a huge chainsaw, no more, no less. He’s particularly fond of using it in conjunction with his flight, performing hit and runs attacks with the spinning blades.

Bloody Chainsaw: In Gigan’s Modified form, his Bloody Triggers are swapped out for dual belt chainsaw arms. The Cyberclaw Terror excels in using these not just to carve into his foes in aerial combat, but as treads to move at equally high speeds while fighting on the ground. It’s likely these were the natural continuation of his previous Hooking Anchor strategy. If dragging his foes into a chainsaw wouldn’t work, then he would drag the chainsaws to them.

Tail Claw: At the tip of Gigan’s armored tail sits a truly horrific feature, looking more like a torture device than anything meant for combat. The largest spike, jutting out of the middle, plunges into the victim’s flesh whilst the four blades lining the edges clamp down, further ripping into the unlucky recipient to hold them in place. Though only used once, Gigan certainly made good use of the brutal weapon. Additionally, concept art shows the tail as able to fire a jet of heat from its tip, though this was never seen in the film.

Breast Device/Bladed Slicer: Now we’re onto the controversial one. Concealed within either side of his chest, Gigan has a pair of launchers which can hold up to eight bladed discs. A long time misconception is that these discs are built to boomerang back, returning to their compartments after use. In actuality, the discs use targeting systems to locate an opponent and repeatedly strike, and were not meant to return to Gigan. It’s unknown if the Breast Device was present from the start, or if it was added as part of Modified Gigan’s upgrades, though it’s most likely the former.

Weaknesses: Despite the impressive weaponry, Gigan’s armament is not without its drawbacks. The Hooking Anchors proved too effective for their own good, locking their owner in place as Godzilla fired his Atomic Breath, an attack Gigan would have otherwise been able to survive. Furthermore, his razor discs horribly backfired when Mothra’s scales interfered with their targeting systems, causing the saws to instead aim for Gigan’s neck. As a whole, Gigan is very vulnerable to his weapons being used against him.
